Formed in the year 1796, Wayne County was named after "Mad" Anthony Wayne, the American General. It has a total area of 672.20 sq mi. Detroit is the county seat and the largest city of Wayne. It is the 18th most-populous county in the United States with a total population of over 1.79 million with an intermingling cohabitation of White, Native American, black or African American, Asian, Hispanic or Latino, Pacific Islander, and others including more than 0.7 million households and 0.45 million families.
